Gmail app keeps asking for Microsoft account credentials - not able to login

Hi,

Since yesterday (24-01-2024) Gmail app won't sync with my Hotmail account. This email account is my default one, and syncs email, calendar and contacts.

Tried to remove account from devices, restart and add account again (manual configuration).

Server is defined as "m.hotmail.com", port "443", Security "SSL/TLS"

It as two options to proceed:

-"Next" - returns a information to check account data or change to modern authentication

-"modern authentication" - tries to sign on a google page (https://enterprise.google.co./exchangeoauth2rediret...) and returns a message "Can't add your personal email".

This happens both in a basic tablet with android 10 and in a Redmi Note 9 Pro (running stock Miui on Android 12)

What could be causing this? any help tp solve?

    Thanks for responding.. I can't get modern authentication to work because it fails to find the server which suggests the server details (URL) are wrong for exchange. But agree there is a problem on Google's side too. You would think Microsoft and Google would know about all of this and actually work together to fix this. I get that there is a move a foot to move everyone to better security.. so make it public, set out a timeframe and have the software ready to go so people can make the changes, rather than skulk about in the dark behind the scenes, break stuff and then stay silent so they can blame each other! 🤬

    No, this is an error I get after trying oauth2 in Google Mail app.

    So I see the linked notification of an issue with Outlook https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/outlook-and-other-apps-are-unable-to-connect-to-outlook-com-when-using-basic-authentication-f4202ebf-89c6-4a8a-bec3-3d60cf7deaef has been updated!

    Something about a change to using Oauth? And which software no longer works.. really helpful NOT! What a really crappy way to support your clients. No discussion, no support. And are you giving free upgrades to "now" outdated software?

    By the way.. this new Oauth doesn't work on Android Gmail.. modern authentication cannot find the server. Why?

    Not impressed.
