Before I switched to new outlook, I was able to double click on attachments and they would open to their specific apps. Ex. If it was a PDF it would open with Acrobat; If it was a word doc, it would open with word. Now I have to click the download button and it default saves to my downloads folder instead of being put where I want it in the beginning. I also can't drag attachments from an email to the specific folder I want to save it to on my desktop. I have to download and then move it from my downloads folder.
I know it's probably just a new process I'll have to get used to, but hey maybe someone knows a hack!

Happy to join that class action lawsuit. This is only ONE of MANY workflow issues we get blindsided by on a regular basis.
Hello, Yes my team and I are having the same issue.
After clicking preview, it does not allow us to open in Word or any other desktop application such as Adobe?
Only gives the option to save to OneDrive or download but not open with Word or any other application?
Also, the classic Outlook is now having issues not populating new emails in inbox on the desktop app, which is why we have instructed our team and company to use the new Outlook since the emails are populating there normally. However, the big concern is the preview and opening of different pdf or documents without downloading them but launching it in the desktop apps needed, such as Word or Adobe. This feature is important to us, the classic Outlook had it but it is missing from the new Outlook.
It sucks!
I am having this same problem. I do want to return to the Desktop version of Outlook. But it doesn't seem to be possible for me already. :(
