How can I open an attachment without downloading it on new Outlook?

Before I switched to new outlook, I was able to double click on attachments and they would open to their specific apps. Ex. If it was a PDF it would open with Acrobat; If it was a word doc, it would open with word. Now I have to click the download button and it default saves to my downloads folder instead of being put where I want it in the beginning. I also can't drag attachments from an email to the specific folder I want to save it to on my desktop. I have to download and then move it from my downloads folder.

I know it's probably just a new process I'll have to get used to, but hey maybe someone knows a hack!

Thank you in advance :)

Any further update on two fairly key features missing from "New" Outlook?

    1. The ability to be able to open a pdf attachment without having to download first is a must. Preview is ok to quickly see if its the file you are looking for, however we need to be able to double click to open in Acrobat or Bluebeam without the additional steps of downloading first.
    2. Being able to drag an attachment to a folder to save, or attach to another email (again without being forced to download) is another missed feature that doesn't seem to have come across from "Old" Outlook and would be greatly beneficial.

I had previously experienced these issues to my workflow when changing to "New" Outlook and thought I was missing something. Sounds like I'm not the only one.

Same for me. I can't preview or open any kind of attachment without downloading it first. Extremely frustrating!!

Is it safe to assume nobody has found a work around yet? This is so frustrating!

I am also experiencing the same issue. I don't want to download and save every attachment. Its very frustrating and I would love to see this fixed.
