Before I switched to new outlook, I was able to double click on attachments and they would open to their specific apps. Ex. If it was a PDF it would open with Acrobat; If it was a word doc, it would open with word. Now I have to click the download button and it default saves to my downloads folder instead of being put where I want it in the beginning. I also can't drag attachments from an email to the specific folder I want to save it to on my desktop. I have to download and then move it from my downloads folder.
I know it's probably just a new process I'll have to get used to, but hey maybe someone knows a hack!

Seriously Microsoft this is ridiculous and unacceptable, how are you charging people for software yearly that isn’t fit for purpose. When will this be resolved re attachments? It’s a joke
I agree, it's terrible. So annoyed with the new Outlook with signatures, settings menu's, and quickly opening attachments!
Agree, this Outlook is so terrible in so many ways! Ruining my productivity. I will take more of my time to get with our IT team to go back to the old version if possible.

I have found an interim solution that is working for our group.
The option to work in the 'classic' view will remain available to all users in this latest MS Update. 😊
To switch back to Outlook's 'classic' view, toggle the button at the top of your screen to "Off." You will still use the updated Outlook, but just in 'classic view.'
To determine if your system is running with the updated version:
Click on File,
Click on Office Account - you should see the Version info window similar to the one below.
