How can I open an attachment without downloading it on new Outlook?

Before I switched to new outlook, I was able to double click on attachments and they would open to their specific apps. Ex. If it was a PDF it would open with Acrobat; If it was a word doc, it would open with word. Now I have to click the download button and it default saves to my downloads folder instead of being put where I want it in the beginning. I also can't drag attachments from an email to the specific folder I want to save it to on my desktop. I have to download and then move it from my downloads folder.

I know it's probably just a new process I'll have to get used to, but hey maybe someone knows a hack!

Thank you in advance :)

I have just gone back to the old Outlook until they fix this an other problems! I was wasting too much time downloading before I could open an attachment. They obviously don't care to fix this!

So, I am losing my life away for the convenience of Microsoft? I am wasting so much time doing the preview instead of opening the freaking attached pictures!!!! I am upset!

As a Microsoft shareholder, I DO NOT LIKE THIS. I might bring this to the next board meeting. So much for AI and making users lives easier!

False. "Open" is not an option after previewing, as stated by the numerous people below. Also, shouldnt have to go through multiple steps just to open file in defualt program. Yikes.

    It is not false.

II have the open in my new outlook. However, most of the other staff in my office do not.

Microsoft needs to harmonize this across all opreatiing systems

Why on earth do you dive into the development of a new version when everything available in the older version isn't considered first before the starting of the new one. If you are being pressed for the release of the new version from your higher ups at least have the guts to tell them "It isn't ready". So much in the development of all sorts of stuff is failed because everyone has to have the accolades for "Good Job" Boo Boo. , instead of doing it right the first time and maybe taking a little extra time.

I am using old Outlook right now, but this is where the option would be to switch it off on New Outlook. Under the close window button. I am using the desktop app.
