How can I open an attachment without downloading it on new Outlook?

Before I switched to new outlook, I was able to double click on attachments and they would open to their specific apps. Ex. If it was a PDF it would open with Acrobat; If it was a word doc, it would open with word. Now I have to click the download button and it default saves to my downloads folder instead of being put where I want it in the beginning. I also can't drag attachments from an email to the specific folder I want to save it to on my desktop. I have to download and then move it from my downloads folder.

I know it's probably just a new process I'll have to get used to, but hey maybe someone knows a hack!

Thank you in advance :)

I assume maybe this was done to prevent some virus software from opening directly from email? Because if Microsoft changed this behavior just to make things more difficult for users, they have done an excellent job!!

I am having this same problem. I do want to return to the Desktop version of Outlook. But it doesn't seem to be possible for me already. :(
