While I believe I understand some of the reasoning behind the marginally improved "New" Outlook while lamenting the overall deprecated experience - namely, an effort to normalize the look and feel across the desktop, mobile and web versions - the path taken is regressive in nature, at least for those of us who've long relied upon the desktop variant to manage much of their eMail, task and scheduling affairs.
I've been comfortable with the working knowledge that detailed work associated with eMail, tasks and scheduling has been the province of the desktop client, while the mobile and web versions offered very functional and not as detailed abilities.
Now, after having lived with the "new" Outlook desktop client for months now, I can conclude that the 'improvements' to this client when compared to its current and soon former versions is far less capable and far more mobile/web like in function - overall, a deprecated experience.
One notable issue is the mere fact that one can seemingly no longer remove attachments directly from an eMail. While this may seem trivial to some, having attachments to eMail AND the ability to download same simply increases the already arduous task of managing one's documents, while increasing the overall storage footprint (since these could now be stored in at least two places), which could represent increased subscription costs over time.
Microsoft, PLEASE revisit this intended direction for the desktop client, and instead consider introducing some of the long-favored desktop client functions into the mobile and web variants, in turn genuinely introducing "new" functionality all around.

i don't even use the cloud sevice but i noticed if you click on a link on a email it opens three f**king windows.why oh why don't why don't they just leave things alone instead of pissing about em
I use the cloud services and New Outlook is still completely rubbish. I'm not seeing any of these cloud benefits that there are. All i see is a bunch of lost features.

None of the suggestions listed work anymore. Seems we are been forced to use this 'new' version.
I realised when I went to download attachment from an email. I do not want to save every attachment in my files. I want to be able to open in adobe and and do what I need to.
If anyone has any suggestions that have worked to change back to classic or fix the download attachment problem, I would be grateful. I have provided feedback to them, not that they will listen. I will just be using web version of outlook until they have fixed the desktop version.

I just typed in "Why is the new Outlook so bad?"om Google after having another horrible fight with my new Outlook desktop app, and this comment popped up first.
I have to agree with this comment tha the new Outlook is pretty bad. I was forced to change to the new version when my old and trusted Outlook started spitting out error messages all the time, so I bit the bullet and started using the new version.
What can I say. It's pretty bad and is missing a ton of the old features which were standard and useful.
How about being able to delay the sending out of your email for as long you need in order to send it to the wrong person, add or take out something, or decide not to send it at all. Now, they give you a WHOLE 10 seconds to make up your mind...
Half the time I can't even open a Calendar invite so that it automatically gets saved to my calendar.
Yep, this is a bad product through and through.
Not sure if you've heard of the expression "If it ain't broke...." Microsoft folks, but man, you messed up with this version of Outlook.
