Outlook 2019 - App Search field

A new "App Search" field has appeared to the right of the normal Search field. I can't seem to find any information on the articles explaining what this is or how to remove it. The "App Search" field also doesn't do anything. You can't type anything where it says App Search and nothing happens when you click the magnifying glass. A couple of things that have already been attempted:

  • restarted Outlook
  • restarted computer
  • checked on others on different computer (they also have it)
  • tried resetting view in settings

    Latest update corrected this issue for my Office 2016 Professional Plus but I also had to start the update manually.

    Open Outlook select File > Office Account

    Select Update Options > Update Now (took about 5+ minutes) restart Outlook when done.

    I don't know why it did not install automatically, I had to go into Outlook and select File > Office Account> Update Options > Update now.

    BUT, the fix worked for me!

    I received the February 13th public update today, and it removed the errant App Search box.

    Microsoft® Outlook® 2019 MSO (Version 2401 Build 16.0.17231.20236) 64-bit

    What version?

    Was it for Office 365 or a purchased version?
