Outlook 2019 - App Search field

A new "App Search" field has appeared to the right of the normal Search field. I can't seem to find any information on the articles explaining what this is or how to remove it. The "App Search" field also doesn't do anything. You can't type anything where it says App Search and nothing happens when you click the magnifying glass. A couple of things that have already been attempted:

  • restarted Outlook
  • restarted computer
  • checked on others on different computer (they also have it)
  • tried resetting view in settings

    This is more than cosmetic, I can't search my emails without reconfiguring my outlook. I use the search feature all day for work. It's a huge inconvenience.

    Why do we have to wait until 2/13 for MS to fix something that is having such a negative impact on Outlook usability?

    But of course now that you're on an older version, you'll always be on an older version. You won't get other updates, including security patches and new desirable features. Seems a big price to pay to get rid of an annoyance.

    Well .. that kinda true .. I can always update same way I un-fixed it ..

    If or when they do fix it .. I can always turn back on updates again ..

    But for now it got rid of this " annoyance " And the two updates that I reverted back from really do nothing.

    Absolutely. I want this removed as well. I'm not buying MS apps in my corporate software.

    Mine came about immediately after updating office pro plus 2016 yesterday. Very frustrating!
