Outlook 2019 - App Search field

A new "App Search" field has appeared to the right of the normal Search field. I can't seem to find any information on the articles explaining what this is or how to remove it. The "App Search" field also doesn't do anything. You can't type anything where it says App Search and nothing happens when you click the magnifying glass. A couple of things that have already been attempted:

  • restarted Outlook
  • restarted computer
  • checked on others on different computer (they also have it)
  • tried resetting view in settings

    From Carl Katz: This worked for me. Close all Office apps. Then open CMD with elevated permissions (as administrator) and use this command: “C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\OfficeC2RClient.exe” /update user updatetoversion=16.0.17029.20108

    yes, this is good way to fix it. thank you very much.

    Well Lady's and Guys I figured it out !

    It was the last update done to outlook 2019 in my case.

    I reverted to : Microsoft® Outlook® 2019 MSO (Version 2312 Build 16.0.17126.20126) 32-bit

    2024 January 30 Version 2401 (Build 17231.20182)
    2024 January 09 Version 2312 (Build 17126.20132)

    Looks like the .. One of the above was the problem update ! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

    I closed all outlook and word all Office products ..

    And used this command to change product version and get rid of the update that caused this problem!

    YOUR UPDATE VER WILL / MAY / CAN BE DIFFERNT updatetoversion=16.0.17126.20126

    SO PLEASE CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU GET THE RIGHT ONE ..

    I Used CMD with admin takes a wile! So be patient! ..

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\officec2rclient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=16.0.17126.20126

    Its " FIXED " As far as I am concerned !

    But of course now that you're on an older version, you'll always be on an older version. You won't get other updates, including security patches and new desirable features. Seems a big price to pay to get rid of an annoyance.

    FIXED !

    Well, no, not fixed. You've provided a workaround for now by staying on an older version (thanks), but the only way for this to be fixed is for Microsoft to fix it in a future release.

    Is anybody from Microsoft here to read this? Do they know about the issue?

    Same problem !

    Crazy New Search Bar showed up ! Help !

    Not sure what happened but this search thing showed up ! ( See Pic )

    Shows a new Search called : APP SEARCH In Black. < It does not work when pressed.

    The search bar to the left still works fine >

    Anyway to get rid of the " app search Bar " ?
