    Update:

I think I managed to solve my issue with this by --> Preferences --> Siri and Spotlight --> Spotlight Privacy --> add by using + choosing "MacIntosh HD".

Directly afterwards I deleted "MacIntosh HD" from the very same list, shut down and started the computer again and then search works in Outlook, ver 16.80

I've been having the same issue. The official response is not very helpful as many others have pointed out. I did find a possible solution that has helped out a bit. In the app, go to Tools> Accounts. Highlight the account you want to fix the search on and go to the bottom right-corner dropdown. Click "Account Reset." When it reopened, my searches were working much better. Not perfect but way more usable than before. Hope this helps others.

This just worked for me, to reclaim the Search function. Outlook version 16.80. MacOs 14.2.1:

    No terminal commands needed.

    Step 1) Re-Index your HDD

    1. Open System settings and select Siri and Spotlight.
    2. Scroll down and click the Spotlight Privacy.
    3. Drag the Macintosh HD to the Privacy tab.
    4. From the Privacy window, select the HD and then click the minus (-) button

near the bottom left of the window.

    1. Restart computer and re-add (+) the HD to the Siri and Spotlight Privacy window. This will start re-indexing. Re-indexing may take several hours

Step 2) When re-indexing is done, enable and then immediately disable New Outlook feature. Disable is done by "Revert to legacy outlook" in Outlook Help menu.

I think this topic is about the New Outlook?

This is in response to requests for assistance on page one of this thread: Loss of operational Search function in Outlook for Mac, for those of us choosing to use Legacy Outlook.
