Search not working on Outlook 16.79 on Mac Sonoma

Hi running Outlook 16.79 on Mac Sonoma 14.0 (23A344) and search function doesn't work at all. Any tips would be much appreciated, thanks

    I am having the same problem.

    However outlook for me does not have the option "preferences"........?

    Thank you @jase4, and that made it work perfectly for me too. Simply click Revert to Legacy Outlook (via the Help menu), then don;t event sign in with any accounts, simply then click Outlook in the main menu, and deselect Legacy Outlook. The search then works in the new Outlook (I'm using Outlook version 16.88 on Mac OS Sanoma 14.6.1. When you sort your emails by column title (ie from) you still can't just hit a letter on your keyboard and jump to those emails, which is a PITA, but at least the search now works.

    Hello,

    I am unable to follow the instruction, as I can not locate the preferences submenu.

    I am using the desktop Outlook Microsoft® Outlook for Mac Version 16.86.1 (24061443)

    Am I missing something? Plus, from time to time, the apps keep requesting to re-enter the passwords for my different email accounts even though I already entered them in the account setup, but it keep losing the setting.

    The only way I can get it to work is to use Outlook web app. Microsoft Outlook for Mac is garbage. There are too many major bugs laking updates fixes. How is search (a key tool for email platforms) lacking so much?

    Doesn't surprise me much. That's Microsoft for you. Can't wait to watch them predictably fumble the golden ticket of AI that seemingly fell into their laps. GL

    I don't know what the Macintosh HD is but where can I find it, so that I can drag it to the privacy tab? Why doesn't Microsoft jump in and help solve these issues? I've spend days working around one problem after another. When I switched back to Legacy some data had disappeared so I'm back gritting my teeth out over New Outlook. If I didn't need Outlook for work I'd ditch it in favour of Apple Mail.
