Teams Add-in not showing in Outlook

I have started having an issue where the Teams Meeting option is not showing up on the ribbon with using the Outlook calendar (three computers so far). It appears the add-in loads correctly, but the icon is not on the ribbon.

I have uninstalled both MS Office and Teams and reinstalled. I have also made sure the load behavior in the registry is correctly set to 3. Two fo the three computers started working out of the blue. The third one the Teams icon is still missing.

I also went to %localappdata%\Microsoft\Outlook\ deleted all the data and started Outlook again. Nothing. The Teams Meeting option is still not showing.

THANKS - rolling back to Teams Classic restored the Outlook addin for my users laptop (MSO 64-bit) as well as on mine (MSO 32-bit). You think they would test a bit more before uncorking a new "improved" version....

My "updates" re-installed Skype for Business (application AND Meeting Add In), removed the MS Teams addin, unable to switch it back even with a FULL repair?

It seems that going back to Teams Classic is the only way to restore the Teams for Outlook addin.

We've been working with Microsoft support on this issue for about 2 weeks now. They've reviewed event logs, Outlook logs, and Teams logs and so far, they have found nothing helpful. This issue doesn't seem to be impacting all Microsoft customers but there are certainly a lot of us. What do we have in common? We are using Office 2019. We have Outlook add-ins for iManage and Litera. I've reviewed event logs of some users who recently reported the issue and found that, with 3 out of the 3 that I checked, they had just restarted their computer shortly before the issue was noticed. The logs also appeared to indicate that updates were installed during that restart and there were logs indicating a reconfiguration of Office (uninstall/install) had occurred.

I just got a notice from o365mc@microsoft.com - Classic Teams Users Will be Automatically Updated to New Teams After March 31, 2024 - they'd better have the outlook addin issue fixed by then!

On October 5, 2023, we announced general availability of the new Microsoft Teams app for Windows and Mac. Read the message center post MC679451 for details.

We mentioned in our GA announcement that classic Teams users will be automatically updated to new Teams in the coming months. Today, we want to inform you that after March 31, 2024, any classic Teams users who have not updated to new Teams, will be automatically updated to new Teams.

With just one click, you can join millions of users who are relying on new Teams to stay connected with colleagues, partners, and customers.

How will this affect your organization?

    • New Teams is a performance-focused update. New Teams is up to 2x faster and use 50% less memory. There is no major impact to the user experience for new Teams. This means you don’t need to invest in any additional training.
    • Between now and March 31, 2024, you can continue to use classic Teams without interruption.

We encourage you to review the service agreementthat governs Teams app updates.

If you haven’t already updated to new Teams yet, review the prerequisites and policy updates for the update to new Teams.

How can I prepare for a seamless update to new Teams?

    • Admins can enable new Teams in their organizations by leveraging robust IT admin policies and taking advantage of deployment options such as office update channels that allow them to enable users and groups within their organizations as needed.
    • Admins who currently have the Teams update policy set to 'Not enabled' for the 'Use new Teams client' setting, we suggest setting the value as ‘New Teams only’ after selecting the Teams update policy to ‘Microsoft controlled’ in the Teams admin center.

    Notes:

    • We have not made the new Teams in the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment generally available yet, so the VDI users will not be affected by the auto-update timeline of March 31, 2024.
    • Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) and Surface Hub devices will also not be affected by the March 31, 2024, timeline.
    • For our education users, the update option to new Teams is available now and they can be seamlessly updated at any time. Please visit this page for more information.
