How to TURN OFF auto start of OUTLOOK (NEW) on computer?

I respect your opinion and don't doubt that you have reason to believe that you are correct.

This setting stopped the problem for me. It persists when that is on, and it does not persist when it is off. So while my explanation as to why it works may be incorrect, it does not change the underlying fact that it controls the problem on my machine.

Because this can be demonstrated on my machine empirically, /that/ it works is not subject to criticism or argument. Moreover, the fact /that/ it worked means more to me than the /why/ it worked.

So, I would ask that you refrain from wasting this space to debate what conclusively worked for me and please direct your efforts to helping those that still have the problem. Or, perhaps to microsoft to help them track down the third variable that leads to this correlation. Both parties could learn from your insights. But, since this resolved my problem, I have no need of your advice.

That is not what this setting is for Jon. That setting is used by the Windows Update process. When an update occures that requires a reboot to finish processing the update, this tells Windows to automatically use the user's credentials to log in and complete the update process (without you having to login first so it can complete) when a user needs to be logged in for completion..

This has absolutely no effect on the recurrence of Windows Mail (running under the "new" Outlook "lite") from auto-launching every periodic time.

This is ridiculous; we should have to go through this much trouble to stop an app that assumes we want it open. Can't help believe this is the way it was designed, considering, what I've seen with Bing AI: you ask a question and it give an opinion....

Same problem.. I uninstalled the mail app until Microsoft fix this
