I use the new version of outlook. The drop down menu for attachments, suggests three files; none is the most recent file used/saved. I have to go into my word documents folders, find the file, and open it to attach it to an email. How can I get the drop down menu of suggested files to display my most recently worked on file?

I just tried the New Outlook and it has some nice visual elements. But have reverted back to the "Old" Outlook because of this dumbing down of the attachment feature. Totally slows down the work flow not to be able to simply attach the document you just finished working on through the drop-down list.
I have the same problem. My daily work flow is severly slowed down. Please fix this Microsoft!
OMG, I thought this was just me not being able to figure out how to fix it on the "new" outlook. What a pain in the butt. Why hasn't this been fixed yet!?
I've been experiencing the same issue. Attaching files used to be much easier before the update. Since they introduced the "Avoid duplicate" rework, attaching files has become much more manual and cumbersome. The suggested files list doesn't update, and only shows 3 now when it use to be more. I work for an organization that deals with clients who use external SharePoints. We will never be on the same SharePoint, we cannot share live files, and I can't sync SharePoint to our work computers as it would slow them down. It seems like the updates were designed with personal use in mind, not for organizations.
How is this still not fixed? The issue was brought up months ago! Come on Microsoft! How hard can this be to get fixed?! This is causing us to go backward in efficiency.
