Email Attachments in the new version of outlook.

I use the new version of outlook. The drop down menu for attachments, suggests three files; none is the most recent file used/saved. I have to go into my word documents folders, find the file, and open it to attach it to an email. How can I get the drop down menu of suggested files to display my most recently worked on file?

    It's the new version of Outlook that is the problem. After a couple of hours of trying to resolve this same issue, I went back to the old Outlook just to see what would happen and viola! clicking on 'attach files' instantly gave me a nice list of recent files including today's files. Weirdly, in the new Outlook, the 'suggested files' box under 'attach files' would give me yesterday's files, but not the current day... So anyway, I'm glad to be back on familiar - and functional - ground! Microsoft: seems like this should be an easy fix...

    1. Use Recent Items: If the file you're looking for is a recent item, you can access it directly from the "Recent Items" list within Outlook. Click on the "Attach" button in the email composition window, then select "Recent Items" from the dropdown menu. This should display a list of files that you've recently accessed or opened.

    We don't have "Recent Items" under Insert>Attach file, we only have "Suggested files" and this is what we're all complaining about. I saved a file a few minutes before trying to reply to this email and it's not suggested. I'd say 95% of the time I want to email a file that I just created.

    I have the same issue! I relied heavily on the recent files option. And by the way, even NON-one drive files would show up on the old version.

    Jerrys list seems exhausting and time consuming. If anyone decides to try them all and something works, please post.

    Hi Jerry,

    Thank you for such a thorough response and the possible options for correcting this issue. The drop down menu in my new version of outlook doesn't seem to have a "recent files" option (the options are: One Drive, Upload and Share, Link). I will try the other suggestions to see if they work. I'll let you know if I'm successful. Thanks jlg
