Why is Mac Outlook Legacy not working today?

I am a support consultant for many customers. Getting a bunch of calls this morning (03/21/2024) about Legacy Mac version 16.8x and above not syncing.

If they switch to New Outlook, no issues. Online is also working.

Why would Legacy stop working today for some? Running Mac OS X 13.x and 14.x with same issue.

Please advise.

No, this is still not working for me. It might be that Microsoft has started resolving the issue for the US but not Europe? Who knows what their logic is, but it certainly isn't working for me this morning - 06:50 GMT. Needless to say, automatic updates will remain off because this is the second time in about 12 months there has been huge issues. The first was where there was a permissions problem with files sent as attachments not opening. Not good when you need Outlook for your business or work.

This finally does seem resolved for me, after 3 days (100 emails) of outage/delay. My experience as end user: I restarted Outlook app several times during the outage; last time showed outage behavior (user connecting to Exchange repeatedly), but now I finally I do have updated inbox without additional Outlook restart, which I suspected would happen since the problem seems to be on Exchange server, but it may be useful to others to know end users don't need to restart Outlook to benefit from unfking once it finally reaches your Exchange servers.
