Why is Mac Outlook Legacy not working today?

I am a support consultant for many customers. Getting a bunch of calls this morning (03/21/2024) about Legacy Mac version 16.8x and above not syncing.
If they switch to New Outlook, no issues. Online is also working.
Why would Legacy stop working today for some? Running Mac OS X 13.x and 14.x with same issue.
Please advise.

2024-03-23T14:05:30+00:00 Using version 16.83.1. This is a severe disruption, very penalizing as impossible to work with the new (poor) outlook. Pro active communication would have been welcome and urgent fix - even if temporary. Wait desperately to get this fixed.

2024-03-23T14:46:59+00:00 Do not know but urgency is to get access to legacy outlook which is impossible now for 2 days. It’s 4 pm CET Saturday and still impossible to connect from MacBook to Legacy Outlook!
