Why is Mac Outlook Legacy not working today?

I am a support consultant for many customers. Getting a bunch of calls this morning (03/21/2024) about Legacy Mac version 16.8x and above not syncing.

If they switch to New Outlook, no issues. Online is also working.

Why would Legacy stop working today for some? Running Mac OS X 13.x and 14.x with same issue.

Please advise.

Both my coworker and I are connected the same exchange server.

HIs works, but didn't Friday. Mine worked Friday, but doesn't now.

If it is the Exchange server version, shouldn't we both either work, or not work?

Do you have to be an admin to run the powershell command? If so, I am not.

Could you please let me know if the situation it’s now ok ? I can’t work with legacy.

    It's not.

The next official update is not expected for another 1.5 hours.

It's not an Outlook issue. It's an Exchange issue.

And btw it's fixed for me

    AdminDisplayVersion : Version 15.20 (Build 7409.31) <--works
    ExchangeVersion : 0.20 (15.0.0.0)

You need to check the Exchange version, not the app version

Using powershell and connecting to exchange online you can check your version with this command

    Get-Mailbox mailboxUser | fl *version
