Why is Outlook on my Mac suddenly crashing consistently?

I have been trying to open Outlook on my MacBook Pro all day, and it has consistently crashed. I was just using Outlook last night and had not made any changes to apps or settings since trying to open Outlook this morning. MacBook is running Sonoma 14.3.1. Never any issues until now. Consistent error messages....even after uninstalling and re-installing...per Microsoft support which was not very helpful.

Below is the most recent message I received (minus hundreds of lines due to character limits).

The only thing which worked out for us are the following steps:

    1. From Finder, open the Applications folder.
    2. Ctrl+click or right-click Microsoft Outlook, and then select Show Package Contents.
    3. Open Contents > SharedSupport, and then launch Outlook Profile Manager.
    4. Do one of the following:
      To Do this
Create a new profile Select the Create a new profile button Add, and then enter a name for the new profile.
Rename a profile Double-click the profile, and then enter a new name for the profile.
Delete a profile Select the profile that you want to remove, and then choose the Delete the selected profile  button Delete.
Change the default profile Highlight the profile that you want, access Set the default profile  Action pop-up menu, and choose Set as Default. Restart Outlook for this change to take effect
    5. In the first minutes of the new profile loading do the following (it is important to be quick here)
At any time, you can switch back by launching Outlook, then click on the Help menu and select Revert to Legacy Outlook. How To Switch Back Accounts added in the new Outlook for Mac will not automatically be added to Legacy Outlook, and vice versa. Before switching back, you'll have the opportunity to provide feedback on the experience and to create an in-app reminder for when additional features become available.

Same issue here on Mac OSX 14.3.1 (Sonoma). Originally failed on Microsoft Outlook for Mac version 16.83.1. Updated to 16.84 (Beta) but it still fails. my only stable solution is to run in legacy mode by closing Outlook and executing the following command in terminal: "defaults write com.microsoft.Outlook EnableNewOutlook -int 0". This is a temporary workaround but I lose critical functionality in the updated Outlook format, which is reducing my productivity.

Microsoft - please issue an permanent fix.

Thank you, Shannah, for teaching me something new. I was able to set up a new Outlook profile, which enabled me to get Outlook to stay open long enough to switch to Legacy Mode. The new profile alone did not fix the issue. Legacy Mode seems to be the solution. No problems since switching.

The new profile and switching to Legacy Mode seems to have fixed the symptom of a bigger problem. Do you know what the root issue is that was causing Outlook to crash? Curious since nothing on my end changed prior to when the crashes started happening this morning.

Hello Wendy, Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. I understand that you have an issue where the Outlook app for Mac is crashing on startup. My apologies for the inconvenience that this is causing you. Based on the error description, could you kindly try setting up your account in a new Outlook profile and see if issue persists: For reference: Manage profiles or identities in Outlook for Mac - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/manage-profiles-or-identities-in-outlook-for-mac-fed2a955-74df-4a24-bef6-78a426958c4c

Microsoft Support (Do not delete the current profile as yet to prevent any data loss).

If the issue persists, you may have to uninstall and re-install the outlook app. Please refer to steps below. (Please backup the outlook folders before moving to trash). In Finder >go to the Applications folder Drag/Move the Microsoft Outlook app to the trash. Restart your Mac. Run this installer to reinstall Microsoft Outlook Install package.

    I hope this helps.

    Sincerely, Shannah.
