How to stop delete key from deleting the entire email in outlook?

absurd is the kindest of words for it. Quite why MS are allowing this problem to persist without either FIXING IT or providing clear instructions as to settings changes (the ones post in this thread are simply erroneous for the free Outlook I'm using) is a total mystery to me.

How anyone can think it is reasonable to have this behaviour is beyond me.

This issue started today on my Desktop Office using a corded keyboard.

Fortunately it was moving these "deleted" emails to my drafts, from there I was just popping out the window as others have explained to have it function as normal.

I decided to close and re-open Outlook and it's behaving normal now. Very odd, hope it doesn't come back.

I tried the steps but the problem persists - why would this suddenly start to happen when it worked perfectly before? I did not change any settings.

When I press delete - like in any other Microsoft tool, i mean delete the immediate text. But for some reason, Outlook started to use this key to delete e-mail. Where can I swich it off?

It´s really frustrating, I really wonder how people at Microsoft think. For example, they added annoying function where I have to first confirm editing a Word file before I start editing it (WHY?). But now I can accidentally delete an entire e-mail by a very predictable action. WHY! Just stop changing things for worse. Everytime I reinstall my windows, I need to go through the ordeal of swiching all these "bright ideas" off.

You have taken these two statements from my mind. A few Microsoft changes make things better, but many of their changes make things worse and frustrate productivity. I am still wondering how Microsoft developers think!

Same issue as everyone else, followed the steps. I can't tell you how many emails I accidentally deleted, literal, I don't know because I didn't realize what was happening. I thought I was loosing my mind. Please revert this "improvement". It is anything but!
