What replaces the "Edit Message" button in the New Outlook?

No. Microsoft does not need to listen. Since they've introduced 365 we're paying 5x more money for SW we hate. I spend most of my day trying to turn off features and figure out why my preferred settings get trashed almost daily such as edit options for email, like stop capitalizing (I'm technical and program names are often lower case). I turn the feature off, Microsoft turns it back on. I have tried everything reasonable (don't store my settings in the cloud, etc.).

Outlook 365 is abysmal, the cloudification of mail has made it so that it now takes me an hour to get through my email in the AM (200 messages, albeit mostly junk), where I could do this task in 10 minutes. I literally had to hire an administrative assistant to help me do this task. Try, for example, adding "unread mail" to your favorites, so it's accessible. In the current release it will automatically be removed when Outlook restarts (my workaround is to create a new "myUnreadMail" search folder and add that, but why should I need to waste an hour figuring out a workaround?).

But wait!!! Try "the new outlook", which Microsoft plans on forcing down our unwilling and unwitting throats sometime in 2027 like it or not (not btw, Microsoft). It makes a terrible program useless. Carefully try it if you don't believe me.

As far as alternatives, not really if your company has gone to Web based Outlook mail. You can try Thunderbird, which still works until Microsoft pulls it's wings off.

Why there is no class action suit based on this I have no idea. They have made it pretty impossible for any third party to compete. Try, for example, deleting Edge. I leave it on the system now, but disable it.

I'm close to retirement, and I thought I'd get there before Microsoft made my life a living hell, but I guess not.

Help! This is a feature needed. It has caused some serious delays to our daily tasks as we deal with 100s of customers every day.

Me too. and suggested work arounds don't work for me as I use the edit function to make notes in a red font on the action taken or needed to be taken.

Does Microsoft ever listen??

That is how you do it in old outlook. The option is not there for new outlook.

The answer is: NOTHING will replace this.

The solution is: revert to "classic/legacy" outlook and stick to it.

This version will be out there for a while. Menu. Top left corner. Outlook. "Legacy"

That's what hundreds of other users are doing. Ask your admins to let you choose since Microsoft allows this switching. When switching: never answer "yes" to the message "free space by deleting the backup files of the legacy version..." otherwise you can't switch back anymore.

I keep on switching into the "new" version and check-out, if this feature has been added, but I'm confident it will never be.

Like so many others, my organization uses the Edit Message feature in the old Outlook. Does Microsoft have a User Group that provides input and feedback regarding changes to new versions? I would think that any User Group would have requested that the Edit Message function not be removed. Please return this feature or too many of us will remain on or go back to the old version.
