Outlook Android App error occurred during authentication. Please try again later.

For some reason when my outlook app is not showing new emails, so I searched online and the advice on Microsoft site was to clear the apps cache and storage (which I did)

This has obviously removed all my setting on my phone so when i go into the app again it asked me to log in again, when i click this is automatically detects my outlook email address, I clock on this (it doesn't ask for password BTW - but i did try to just enter my email and password but same error message) but then just come up with an error saying " error occurred during authentication. Please try again later"

I am using the latest version of Outlook for Android app (27 Feb 2024) - 4.2405.2 (42405820).

I am using Android 14.

I started experiencing this issue today, Feb 27, 2024 as soon as I downloaded the Outlook app for Android.

I can log in successfully to this Yahoo Mail account, using Outlook for Windows, web etc. Only Outlook for Android is a problem.

I had issues with Google and Outlook accounts but then somehow they were resolved when suddenly the Outlook was able to sign in, even when there was the same error message displayed.

How can this be fixed, I need access to my emails asap

Thanks

    Hi sershcher

Thank you for posting on the Microsoft Community Forum. I hope you're doing well.

I understand that you're experiencing this issue with the Outlook Android app. Based on the information you've provided, it seems that the error occurred during the authentication process, which could be caused by a number of factors such as incorrect login credentials, server issues, or outdated app version.

To troubleshoot this issue, I would suggest the following steps:

    1. Check your login credentials: Please ensure that you are entering the correct email address and password associated with your Outlook account. You can try resetting your password to ensure that you have the correct login credentials.
    2. Check your internet connection: Please ensure that you have a stable internet connection and that your device is connected to the internet. You can try switching to a different network or resetting your network settings.
    3. Update the Outlook app: Please ensure that you have the latest version of the Outlook app installed on your device. You can check for updates in the Google Play Store and install any available updates.

4: Uninstall and reinstall the Outlook application.

If none of these steps work, please let me know and we can explore other options.

    Sincerely,

    ReynaldoB

Found the fix, I don't know if Microsoft added more servers outside of the US or something but we added 2 IP's from Microsoft to let them through our firewall, then when logging in we put the "server name" skip the "domain name" and for the "Username" Just put the users email address and we are now able to login on the IOS/Android Outlook apps. Hopefully it helps all of you.
