I am feeling your pain. It seems as if Microsoft does not give a damn about customer satisfaction. They are so very happy to take money for their products, but entirely unable to fix an ongoing issue with their platform. I would think that there would be some sort of IT guru working within their organisation that is able to simply 'flick a few switches' and make this process seamless and simple to add email accounts to Outlook. My wife is waiting to buy a new Samsung A56, to replace her A71, but until this well-known flaw is fixed once and for all, that purchase will not be happening. I wish I had not upgraded my phone either. Microsoft have been utterly useless regarding this.

I am also having the same issue.
It appears that Microsoft and/or Outlook is confused with who is who or what is what, on the logins and passwords.

I have had my own domain name for over 25 years. My email is thru that domain name. It is NOT a business account. This all got messy about 3-4 years ago when GoDaddy and Microsoft merged the email systems.
It seems the login windows/prompts vary, woording ain't real clear, if it wants my Email password or my Microsoft acct password.

I 'factory reset' my Samsung tablet. I went to add my email in the Outlook app. After putting in the email, it asks if Business/Work or Personal account. To me, it is Personal as it is my own personal email via in past, my own domain name.
...have tried both Business and Personal and after trying, both fail to authenticate.

At some point, some click I did on options, it did seem to have me login to my MS account and now when I go to add an account, it finds my email on the MS side and wants to add it. But still fails to authenticate.

I have also cleared the App cache and deleted the app data, with no effect, except to have to relogin to the MS account at some step.

I have logged in on my desktop browser to the Outlook.Office.Com site ok, logged out and back in, so my password works.

Anyone else feel like the process is screwed up and overlapping?
Sure seems like a lot of efforts here for a very basic, simple, email setup login failing.

Thanks, I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said! Outlook works on my phone (S24 Ultra) but not on my tablet.

Hi, From what I am reading, this issue has been present for many months. I had no problem with my A71, and my wife's A71 also has no issues with Outlook working on it. However, with my new A56, I am unable to set up Outlook on it with my email account. Surely, a business such as Microsoft is able to get this fixed. I am not the tech guru, they are. What I do know however, is that I am paying a yearly subscription of $159 for Microsoft 365 and I would expect issues such as this to be fixed - immediately. Microsoft, please get on and fix this glitch, rather than pretending to offer fixes, which to be brutally honest, mean nothing to the average non-tech user. A bit like me, as a paramedic, telling you how to put an IV cannula in your own arm then how to administer you own cardiac drugs in an arrest.
