For some reason when my outlook app is not showing new emails, so I searched online and the advice on Microsoft site was to clear the apps cache and storage (which I did)
This has obviously removed all my setting on my phone so when i go into the app again it asked me to log in again, when i click this is automatically detects my outlook email address, I clock on this (it doesn't ask for password BTW - but i did try to just enter my email and password but same error message) but then just come up with an error saying " error occurred during authentication. Please try again later"
I am using the latest version of Outlook for Android app (27 Feb 2024) - 4.2405.2 (42405820).
I am using Android 14.
I started experiencing this issue today, Feb 27, 2024 as soon as I downloaded the Outlook app for Android.
I can log in successfully to this Yahoo Mail account, using Outlook for Windows, web etc. Only Outlook for Android is a problem.
I had issues with Google and Outlook accounts but then somehow they were resolved when suddenly the Outlook was able to sign in, even when there was the same error message displayed.
How can this be fixed, I need access to my emails asap

It is the authentication issue in Outlook. The program is defective, they need to have the user repair it by asking some questions. Calendar works, contacts work, so the Outlook setup and authentication is buggy.
I spent hours and hours and hours trying to solve this problem and had almost given up when I stumbled upon the solution. I followed the steps previously posted by another subscriber as follows:
Steps:
open android settings
go-> Accounts and backup
go-> Manage accounts
Sign out of Samsung account (with same email)
Sign out of any other microsoft account
Also follow steps to remove cache and data from outlook, uninstall
At this point rather than reinstalling outlook which had not worked the first time I followed these steps, I installed Gmail as my primary email app and linked my Microsoft email addresses. This worked without a problem an I felt like I would probably have to go forward using Gmail as my mail app. Then on a whim I reloaded the outlook app and tried to load my Microsoft emails and it worked without an issue. I was able to uninstall the Gmail and continue forward using my outlook without a problem. Whether this was a fluke on my S25 or is a true workaround solution I don't know.
The only way to fix this is to install Yahoo MAIL FIRST before installing anything other account on the phone, Which is a ridiculous way to fix a problem.
Microsoft needs to get off their **** and find an APP fix for this.
I am having the same problem. I just got a new android s25 ultra and everything I try to access my office 365 account with the outlook app, I get an authorization error. Plz help
Judging by the 3 pages of frustrated replies and absolute disregard shown by Microsoft, it sounds to me that the best solution would be to use any other mail app instead.
Simple fix, use a less broken mail app.
