How to alter future meetings without changing the past events in a series of repeated meetings?

Example:

  1. I have a meeting set up to repeat every Monday at 9 AM from 1st January 2023.
  2. Assume today is the 1st of November, and I want to move all the recurring meetings to Tuesday.
  3. Outlook allows me to change the current event or all the events in the series.
  4. Single-event change is OK.
  5. But if I have to change all future events, I have to select "Edit" >> "All events in the Series."
  6. This option not only changes future but all the past events as well.

How can I ensure that only future events are updated (to Tuesday 9 AM) and I still have the entries of all past events in the calendar (as Monday 9 AM).

Update: I'd like you to know that this is now fixed.

If you open a recurring event and then click the edit button at the bottom left corner of the event window, it allows you to edit "This and all following events" ****

    Hi,

    I still don't have an "edit" option on my end. I right click on the meeting and choose to open the series. I make the change to the time and click okay. Once I do that it gives me the message I wrote in the previous post ("If you changed specific appointments in the series, your changes will be cancelled and those appointments will match the series again").

    Are you able to let me know where I can find the "edit" button, please?

    Microsoft has listened and added the option to alter the "future occurrences" only.

    Hi Alex,

    Has this issue been solved yet? I tried to change the time of a recurring meeting and had the message "If you changed specific appointments in the series, your changes will be cancelled and those appointments will match the series again."

    I would like all meetings in the past to stay as they are now, so we have reference in case of auditing. I also would like to be able to change the future meetings without looking unprofessional to my colleagues by sending them many emails. Please advise when this system changes to be more user-friendly.

    I did it this way for a recurring appointment and did not lose history. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    The steps listed above will not work. Upon completing Step 3 user is prompted to "Open Entire Series" and you are right back to losing all history if you proceed.
