How to alter future meetings without changing the past events in a series of repeated meetings?

The option to change this event and all future events needs to be added back in.

It used to be that way in outlook.

It's been years since the new version took out that option, and I'm aghast that it still has not been restored.

I think the proper answer to the original question, since the person is clearly not wanting to change each meeting one at a time for all future events, would be to change the end date of the original meeting, then set up a new recurring meeting. HOWEVER, I just tried this, and instead of saving the changes, it deleted EVERYTHING! There is clearly a huge problem with this feature, which USED to work.

With everything 'requiring' electronic documentation these days, a proper history on an electronic calendar MUST be preserved.

And it's ridiculous to expect people to have to go into a recurring meeting and edit future events one at a time.

Please fix this issue. It's been about 5 years since what worked properly has been removed. I'm surprised no one has bothered to restore it after all this time.

You can now do this with the outlook.com web interface!

1. Click on the recurring event.
2. On the window that pops up, click 'Edit'
3. One of the options shown is "This and all following events."

I agree with what others in this thread have said about the inconvenience of not being able to change future occurrences without that moving past meetings, as well as not wanting to edit each meeting occurrence individually. This seems like a significant oversight in the software.

Another thing I will add to this, because I just went to change the end date of a recurring meeting to reschedule a new one at a different time (in order to preserve past occurrences), is that I received the following notice: "If you changed specific appointments in the series, your changes will be cancelled and those appointments will match the series again".

I had rescheduled a singular previous meeting's time, and now the work-around of changing the end date the original meeting & rescheduling with the changed time is also not an option if I need to preserve past meetings in my calendar. I guess I get to annoy my superiors with a dozen emails changing the times individually.

Please fix this, it makes users look unprofessional & is just an unnecessary headache.

Can we get this feature changed?

Changing a series and having it affect old meetings is just bad practice.
The workarounds just end up spamming your recipients with un-necessary meeting cancellations and invites. It's an awful user experience.

Agreed that this feature that needs to be provided in Outlook. For reoccurring meetings, I do not want to change the past meetings since I want to reference the old meetings that were held. I just want to change the reoccurring meetings from a specific date and all the meetings going forward. The only way it seems to work is if I create a new reoccurring meeting. The painful part of this is all the participants and information are the same so folks will receive a cancellation of a reoccurring meeting to only get another reoccurring meeting with the same information. It's more time and effort on the coordinator, and the other folks get confused about why their meeting is getting cancelled and getting another invite for the same meeting for just a small edit.

For example:

I have a 9a-10a reoccurring catch-up meeting with 50 people on Mondays. The agenda is set in the body of the meeting invite and updated to all the participants for each meeting. I want all the information saved so I can reference the past meetings. For the start of the new year, I need to change the time of the meetings due to schedule changes to a different time: 11a-11:45a. I don't want to lose the information for our past meetings. I don't want to delete the reoccurring meetings since it's only a slight change in time, and the information and participants are the same. Usually, I have to send out 3 different notifications: 1) emailing all the participants that this is happening so there's no confusion 2) cancelling the meetings to be accepted by all the participants, 3) recreating the same meeting to be accepted again. Is there a way I can easily do this?
