For years I used the tray icon clock to open a calendar. It looked like this (except Save & More Details were not greyed out).
Clicking a date I could fill out "Add an event or reminder", add a time and location.
Jan 10 2024 "New Outlook" auto imposed itself. It insisted I give it an email address or it wouldn't play ball. I gave it my MS-account email (that happen to be an gmail account). I imagined Outlook would copy all the old calendar items. It didn't. New Outlook was blank.
I was going to start using Outlook before it forced me. Not because I wanted to but because it seemed, after searching for years, that is the only possible way to make a calendar backup.
I believe I clicked Add calendar --> edit my calendar (New Outlook) trying to find a way to make my calendar entries appear when suddenly all my calendar entries where gone. They never appeared in New Outlook and were gone from the tray icon clock as well.
I can add new entries to New Outlook and I noticed they appear in my gmail account (calendar) as well.
I've more or less given up retrieving my old calendar entries. Thankfully I don't really need them. Searching this community for tips I looked in New Outlook "Deleted items". It's empty.
Now the tray icon clock calendar isn't only empty, the "Save" and "More details" are both greyed out. Is there a way to restore the convenience of the old functionality. Meaning I can add items via the tray icon clock again? I also have a vague hope if this is restored all my old entries will reappear.

Go to start, write in outlook calendar, click on calendar, not app.. This will bring up your old calendar info on the Outlook calendar. But I cannot get it to my taskbar or desktop. If anyone finds how to do that please notify.
Search, outlook calendar , not app, choose first link old hotmail, will pull up your windows 11 calendar with your info but on the outlook calendar. Cannot get it to move to taskbar or desktop though
Sorry for so many entries on the same thing but I keep finding another step that works. Taskbar, click search. write in or click Outlook Calendar , first link will be Old Hotmail, Save As to Desktop and info from old windows 11 calendar will be there, but on the new Outlook calendar. Cannot find a way to get back to the old calendar but at least you will have not lost your entries.
Your new calendar is a POS! Why didn't you all listen to the constant posts on how we want a full monthly calendar where you could scroll down vertically and see each month continuously. I have now been FORCED to use that crappy new calendar! There are SO MANY posts on how people hate the new design! I will move to something else and stay clear of Outlook now. I can't believe you guys ignored so many people that absolutely HATE the new Outlook calendar that won't allow vertical scrolling. It was so nice, I LOVED it, now...I ABSOLUTELY HATE, HATE, HATE the new look, along with MANY, MANY, other people. Shame on Microsoft not listening to their users!!!!!
That used to be true, I would always revert back to the old calendar with that option. But, now, today I am forced to use the new calendar WHICH I HATE because it has taken away the vertical scrolling so you could continuously scroll from month to month and see the last couple of weeks of the month and upcoming events. I NOW have lost the option of reverting back to the old calendar. Sad that Microsoft didn't listen to the many posts on people that can't stand the new calendar!
