Forced to use New Outlook wiped my entire calendar, can I get it back? Can the tray icon clock calendar be connected to New Outlook?

For years I used the tray icon clock to open a calendar. It looked like this (except Save & More Details were not greyed out).

Clicking a date I could fill out "Add an event or reminder", add a time and location.

Jan 10 2024 "New Outlook" auto imposed itself. It insisted I give it an email address or it wouldn't play ball. I gave it my MS-account email (that happen to be an gmail account). I imagined Outlook would copy all the old calendar items. It didn't. New Outlook was blank.

I was going to start using Outlook before it forced me. Not because I wanted to but because it seemed, after searching for years, that is the only possible way to make a calendar backup.

I believe I clicked Add calendar --> edit my calendar (New Outlook) trying to find a way to make my calendar entries appear when suddenly all my calendar entries where gone. They never appeared in New Outlook and were gone from the tray icon clock as well.

I can add new entries to New Outlook and I noticed they appear in my gmail account (calendar) as well.

I've more or less given up retrieving my old calendar entries. Thankfully I don't really need them. Searching this community for tips I looked in New Outlook "Deleted items". It's empty.

Now the tray icon clock calendar isn't only empty, the "Save" and "More details" are both greyed out. Is there a way to restore the convenience of the old functionality. Meaning I can add items via the tray icon clock again? I also have a vague hope if this is restored all my old entries will reappear.

    Joanna, they don't tell you this, but when the new Outlook (including Calendar) app opens there is a toggle button in the top right corner that allows you to move between Outlook and the old Calendar and Mail apps. Each time you open Mail or Calendar now it automatically diverts to the Outlook app but flicking the toggle switch will close that app and reopen the old apps. P.S. If like me your old calendar app entries do not appear in the new Outlook app calendar because that app does not support IMAP yet you can bypass the Outlook app and access your calendar by logging into https://outlook.live.com/ (or outlook.com) via a web browser (i.e. Edge, Firefox, Google) then navigating to Calendar.

    The taskbar calendar typically syncs with the Windows Calendar app, not New Outlook.

    What a mess! When we switch Windows Mail app to New Outlook, it switch the Windows Calendar app too. Why so? Because Microsoft want to remove these 2 old apps.

    After try this "New Outlook", my "taskbar calendar" simply freeze because guess what? Windows Mail and Calendar app is not in sync with my Office 365 account anymore.

    I wonder who even wants to try this "half-cooked" solution. Microsoft better make sure that all functions are working before forcing user to switch to the new app.

    When you are told that something new replaces something old you assume it has all the same functionality. Apparently not. I switched to New Outlook, then removed Mail and Calendar and my agenda completely disappeared from tray. No more calendar entries for easy viewing. This is unacceptable! Will try to go back to old solution, cause the new one does not have all the functionalities. Ridiculous...

    As mentioned in earlier posts, calendar entries may not appear now because the current version of Outlook does not support IMAP (google accounts etc.). In the coming months IMAP support amongst other things will be added after which your calendar entries should appear in the app automatically.

    It is 3/23/24 12:30am.

    This concerns the app 'calendar' and 'the new outlook'.

    The new outlook just wiped my calendar. I can't get into the old calendar and the supposed 'new' calendar has none of my data. I had used it since I bought this computer and it had YEARS of farm and home vital data on it- cattle births and sales, family events, garden information, work notes...

    Literally it was my record of past events. I want my data back.
