Forced to use New Outlook wiped my entire calendar, can I get it back? Can the tray icon clock calendar be connected to New Outlook?

For years I used the tray icon clock to open a calendar. It looked like this (except Save & More Details were not greyed out).

Clicking a date I could fill out "Add an event or reminder", add a time and location.

Jan 10 2024 "New Outlook" auto imposed itself. It insisted I give it an email address or it wouldn't play ball. I gave it my MS-account email (that happen to be an gmail account). I imagined Outlook would copy all the old calendar items. It didn't. New Outlook was blank.

I was going to start using Outlook before it forced me. Not because I wanted to but because it seemed, after searching for years, that is the only possible way to make a calendar backup.

I believe I clicked Add calendar --> edit my calendar (New Outlook) trying to find a way to make my calendar entries appear when suddenly all my calendar entries where gone. They never appeared in New Outlook and were gone from the tray icon clock as well.

I can add new entries to New Outlook and I noticed they appear in my gmail account (calendar) as well.

I've more or less given up retrieving my old calendar entries. Thankfully I don't really need them. Searching this community for tips I looked in New Outlook "Deleted items". It's empty.

Now the tray icon clock calendar isn't only empty, the "Save" and "More details" are both greyed out. Is there a way to restore the convenience of the old functionality. Meaning I can add items via the tray icon clock again? I also have a vague hope if this is restored all my old entries will reappear.

EXACTLY! I use calendar as an historic record of past events as well as future ones Literally dating back years- farm records, family events, health etc. They propose to wipe out all that data. That's *MY* data, not theirs. My only solution so far is a cumbersome method of copying the calendar page by page to keep it offline. Why can't they figure that out? I've emailed them repeatedly- no response. I'm thinking others may have the same issue.

Joanna, they don't tell you this, but when the new Outlook (including Calendar) app opens there is a toggle button in the top right corner that allows you to move between Outlook and the old Calendar and Mail apps. Each time you open Mail or Calendar now it automatically diverts to the Outlook app but flicking the toggle switch will close that app and reopen the old apps. P.S. If like me your old calendar app entries do not appear in the new Outlook app calendar because that app does not support IMAP yet you can bypass the Outlook app and access your calendar by logging into https://outlook.live.com/ (or outlook.com) via a web browser (i.e. Edge, Firefox, Google) then navigating to Calendar.

While you can’t directly connect the taskbar calendar to New Outlook, consider using the Windows Calendar app as an intermediary:
- Open the Windows Calendar app (search for it in the Start menu).
- Add your events there, and they should sync with your Gmail account (since you’ve noticed that New Outlook entries appear in your Gmail calendar).
- This way, you can still have a convenient way to add items via the tray icon clock calendar.

By adding one entry (in Win Cal app) it shows up in tray-icon-calendar and  **SAVE** grey-out went away. All my old entries are back in the tray icon clock calendar and some, not all, in "Windows Calendar app".

Got all back into "Windows Calendar app" by clicking every entry since I last reinstalled Win 10 (mid 2022). Most efficient way through all dates **Right-Arrow + Enter**, repeat ~ 600 times. Every day with entry, click each (if multiple) entry to make it show up in "Windows Calendar app".

Entries does not show up in "New Outlook" nor do they show up in coupled gmail calendar (= Microsoft account). Seems I'm back to before all tray-icon-clock entries went away.

I'd love to back the Windows Calendar up. Is there any way? I searched for years and all answers say there isn't. The only way I've found is to use the print option, month by month. This gives all the daily entry headlines (some truncated) for each month. No details of time or location. Printing not to paper but to either PDF  or MS XPS document writer. Preferably PDF I just discovered because it gives text not image output. Horizontal, largest "paper" width for minimum truncation.

I access the print option via the three dots (see pic above). The three dots opens two options:

a)  Print out.

b) Synchronize

I dare not touch "synchronize" because I don't know what will happen.

Synchronize with what? Or from what?

Pic above shows "**Microsoft Account**" and immediately a checked check mark for "**Calendar**". If I uncheck it my entries go away. Rechecking and they're back.

What does that mean? It doesn't mean my calendar entries shows up in the gmail account that is my Microsoft Account because they don't.

I read that Windows Calendar app will not be supported beyond Dec. 31 2024. So that's the time i have to find a way to backup.
