Mail continues to switch me to Outlook - how do I disable?

About every 2- 3weeks, the Mail app continues to automatically switch me to Outlook, without asking me. And I have to manually switch back to Mail.

I run an HP Pavilion laptop with Windows 11.

I'm aware that Mail will eventually be discontinued, however, that's not for another year. I plan to use Mail for the next year, since Outlook currently is very difficult for me to use. However, Mail continually tries to suggest I switch, and then forces me to switch. This has happened over and over again for the last few months.

What can I do to disable Mail from switching me to Outlook?

    Hi I also found another way to stop outlook from auto installing, after I recently ran windows update, found as soon as I opened mail it took me to outlook, immediately closed and uninstalled outlook, I opened mail again and that damn outlook reinstalled, so every time outlook uninstalled it kept reinstalling, so I deleted Outlook update in the registry, now have mail back permanently, with no pesky "try Outlook" pop up in mail, but do have the try Outlook button still there, strange thing as well I ran windows store update and my mail app had an update so updated, so MS must be still supporting Mail for now.

    My fix: [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\Orchestrator\UScheduler_Oobe\OutlookUpdate]

    I went to this location and deleted the OutlookUpdate file, I checked my mail app after pc reboot and all ok up to press, few days now now issues.

    Thing is, whatever you find here is temporarily useful. Microsoft just wouldn't listen to people to not change stuff to be more complicated than necessary. What happened to the Windows 10 UI? Windows 11 said "F@@@ Windows 10's perfect UI and do what we, as a company think "people like most". Changing stuff that already was perfect to start with didn't even need to be changed. Why are the most handy features being removed, like F@@@ing right click eject and a single right click menu without extra fluff? Because nowadays Microsoft owns us and we don't own Microsoft products anymore, no matter what we have to say about it. Yes, even with a fully legal licence directly from Microsoft.

    Oh yeah, that's right Microsoft. I just circumvented the common "bad word censor filter", and I'm proud of it!

    I tried this now all my emails seem to have disappeared. Not sure where they have gone?

    Did you switch your e-mail to the one you wanted it to be before you deleted the one Microsoft wants you to have if not you may have to go back to a previous date to recover .

    I ended up removing Outlook and trying to go back to mail but, it wouldn’t work. I am now using Thunderbird on my desktop and Apple’s Mail on my iPads and iPhone.

    I may end up with Apple for everything and say goodbye to Microsoft but, they won’t care. Bill Gates has enough money.
