Mail continues to switch me to Outlook - how do I disable?

About every 2- 3weeks, the Mail app continues to automatically switch me to Outlook, without asking me. And I have to manually switch back to Mail.

I run an HP Pavilion laptop with Windows 11.

I'm aware that Mail will eventually be discontinued, however, that's not for another year. I plan to use Mail for the next year, since Outlook currently is very difficult for me to use. However, Mail continually tries to suggest I switch, and then forces me to switch. This has happened over and over again for the last few months.

What can I do to disable Mail from switching me to Outlook?

I got fed up with this constant attempt to switch me to Outlook just to use the Calendar app and discovered that Mozilla Thunderbird, which is free and which I already have and use for my email, has a an even better calendar feature than Microsoft Calendar. So I copied all the recurring events from Microsoft Calendar then dumped Calendar.

A comment was made in this thread that some felt the software developers who created Calendar never use a calendar app. I feel the same way about Microsoft Word. Do any of the developers actually write? My guess is no.

I don't know if the powers that be at Microsoft read this forum or not, but here's what I want to say to them.

Every single late night/early morning when I first launch mail, I get switched over to Outlook. I am legally blind. I use my computer for nonprofit organizations and when you people do this hostile takeover of my email program, it slows productivity. I bought this computer with the Windows Mail app. I don't like being forced to have to switch to a program I'm not familiar with! If you want to withdraw support for the application that's one thing, but to force it to no longer work and switch to another program is absolutely wrong. That's my 2 cents worth. I have downloaded another application for when you people force the issue at the end of the year. Outlook might be ok but I'm used to the Mail app and the way you folks are going about this is absolutely ridiculous. That's all. Good day and God bless!
