About every 2- 3weeks, the Mail app continues to automatically switch me to Outlook, without asking me. And I have to manually switch back to Mail.
I run an HP Pavilion laptop with Windows 11.
I'm aware that Mail will eventually be discontinued, however, that's not for another year. I plan to use Mail for the next year, since Outlook currently is very difficult for me to use. However, Mail continually tries to suggest I switch, and then forces me to switch. This has happened over and over again for the last few months.
What can I do to disable Mail from switching me to Outlook?

Okay. Name a Linux distribution that NEVER requires me to open the Terminal and doesn't prompt me for password every time I want to do anything. I'll wait.
Don't ask Microsoft for help there are no people here, only smooth brained sand monkeys who spam canned responses without reading anything.
Unfortunately, this dreadful "New Outlook" interferes with the operation of web based email programs like Earthlink. Even without setting up a formal relationship between the third party email client program and the "New Outlook" it simply meddles in the connection, prevents the downloading of some file attachments, and generally slows things down to a crawl. New Outlook behaves like some hacker's demon program, hovering in the background and then finding things to mess with. Who needs hackers when we have Microsoft and their buggy, nasty programs.
The solution is called LINUX. Every week when i launch MAIL apps in Windows it switch to Outlook and i have to spend 2minutes to click and undo; Microsoft fails to register this in the registry. They should do a popup and ask for confirmation before auto switch for me. Also my browser is vivaldi and Windows keep running Edge in background to waste resources and auto download content that i dont use.
My solution is that now my home PCs all swap to Arch Linux and except one still using Windows 11.
this is absolutely spot on. It's a total joke how they're trying to take away a nice clean simple email program and replace it with some overloaded pile of **** that contains ads at the VERY TOP OF MY EMAIL LIST!! to obviously try to get you to inadvertently click on them. But hey you can pay a monthly fee to get rid of the ads! Shame on you microsoft this is just another pathetic money grab. Why wouldnt you just let us keep our simple mail app we liked. its just like how they completely shove onedrive down your throat and then try to start charging you for storage once the measly 5 gigs of data is filled up. Never thought I'd say this, almost makes me want to throw up saying it, but I almost want to switch to apple.
