Hello, In the new Outlook for Windows, the experience is generally good except for an issue where emails read in it still appear as unread when viewed in a different client, like the Outlook desktop app or the iPhone mail app. Any ideas why? Has anyone else experienced this? To reproduce: Open your Outlook for Windows and another client (e.g . Gmail) Find a read email in the alternate client and mark it as unread New outlook for Windows will update after ~10 seconds displaying the unread status - this is GOOD Now try doing this the opposite way around - both marking an email as read or unread within the new Outlook for Windows doesn't sync to the actual mail server. It does maintain this unread state within the Outlook for Windows even after closing however. It's annoying because if I go through my emails on my computer, then look at them later on my phone, it still shows all emails as unread. Edit 28th Feb 2024: I have unmarked this as resolved because there are clearly many people with later versions who still experience this issue. Please sort this out Microsoft - it's incredibly annoying. Thanks in advance, Jonathan

FYI, I still have this issue. Using client version: 20240209002.15.

I tested this scenario just now with an AOL account and when I marked read in the browser it marked read in New Outlook, however it did take a couple minutes for the status to change. What type of account are you using? I also tested the scenario marking Read in Outlook Desktop and again it worked marking read in New Outlook, but it was not instantaneous. If you have persistent repro, please submit an In App ticket via Help, Support.

I can only add that after trying the Outlook (NEW) several times also when it was in a pre-release state (and switching back to the "MAIL" app as each attempt was a disappointment) that this particular issue of read status is inconsistent as I experienced the anomaly not being completely specific. Just yesterday I experienced it exactly as you described but at the same time, it also reset the read status and some msgs previously read became "unread". New msgs that have been read using the app, were not updated is so seems on the server and so even though a msg would show as read, using my phone app, that same mgs did not change state to read. etc etc etc etc. Coming with a background in "testing" I would not ever consider releasing such a piece of software in its current state. I would term it "UNSTABLE" As I'm writing this, I just noticed that 3 more msgs that have been read yesterday are now showing up as unread. Ridiculous to say the least. I suppose I will switch back, once again, to the MAIL app until Microsoft finally figures out things. The most annoying part is that randomly after starting Windows, I am suddenly forced to use this NEW Outlook. Just looked at my second email account and ALL msgs are now showing as UNREAD. Same here. But in opposite direction. When i read email in my browser or on other device. Read / unread status does not change in outlook. The same when i delete message in browser. It still show as unread. Which is frustrating and not how IMAP should work. On the other hand i think that status from outlook to server is sent correctly. So when i read something in outlook i will see it as read in browser as well.
