Message Body Font in Outlook Suddenly Small

Yesterday my Outlook updated to a new version. The text of the message body is so small it is useless in the preview pane. The subject line font is huge while the message body font is tiny. What do I have to do to make the fonts the same size? I have tried accessibility text font changes that make it worse. I tried large, medium and small in outlook and it has no effect on the message body font. Preview pane image included. Thank you for your support. I have Windows 11.

Regards,

Tim

    Hi All!

I stumbled upon the solution by pure happenstance ... it's so dumb!

If you open any email in a separate pane (by double-clicking it), you'll notice that pane has an independent zoom button at the top of the new window:

This zoom button will also change the zoom of your email in the normal reading pane. Somehow mine was set to like 60%, which is why all the text was super tiny. What a dumb setting! No way to change it anywhere else, as far as I can tell 🤦‍♀️

    Hopefully this helps someone!

I am having the same issue, and zooming in and out isn't a satisfactory answer. Neither is using the immersive reader. I don't know why Microsoft cares less and less about its users.

I'm having the exact same issue! Zooming in on the web browser does not work well - it makes the rest of the text HUGE while the email reading pane becomes smaller and smaller. The text becomes more legible, but this is a ridiculous "fix." The screenshot example is zoomed in to 175%? Just to become legible text? Whyyyyyy.

This resolved my issue. In my case, it was set to 50%

Great find, and thanks for posting!

For others like me who have never opened an Outlook message in a new window: click the three dots *in the message* (just above the date and time), then select "View", then "Open in new window".

    Hi Rita,

Thank you for your interest in this issue. I must not have explained the situation correctly. The settings for compose and reply are the same that I set many years ago. There is no issue there. The issue is the inbox preview pane that has many different font sizes in the received email. The font size of the message body is so small that the preview pane is useless. A sample is included. How can I make the font size of the incoming email body legible in the preview pane? The sample below is the email I received from the Outlook Team letting me know I have new Outlook. I can send it to you if that helps.

    Regards,

    Tim
