how to move emails from one account to another using new Outlook for Windows

Unfortunately, the new Outlook app currently do not have the features to directly move or copy emails between different accounts. Moving emails requires exporting them from the source account and importing them into the destination account.

Here are two methods you can use to move emails between different Outlook accounts:

Method 1: Export and Import Emails:

Open the source account in Outlook: You can either use the web app at https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/office/how-to-sign-in-to-outlook-on-the-web-763fab4d-0138-4814-b450-37fc286bcb79 or the desktop app.

Select the emails you want to move: You can select individual emails by holding the Ctrl key and clicking on each email, or select all emails in a folder by pressing Ctrl + A.

Export the selected emails: Web App: Click on the "File" menu, select "Export," and then choose "Outlook Data File (.pst)". Follow the onscreen instructions to choose a location for the file and export the selected emails.

Desktop App: Click on the "File" tab, select "Open & Export," then choose "Import/Export." Choose "Export to a file" and select "Outlook Data File (.pst)". Follow the wizard to choose the folders and location for the exported file.

Open the destination account in Outlook: You can use the web app or the desktop app, depending on your preference.

Import the exported file: Web App: Click on the "Settings" gear icon, select "View all Outlook settings," then navigate to "Mail" > "General" > "Import mailbox." Choose the exported PST file and follow the instructions to import the emails.

Desktop App: Click on the "File" tab, select "Open & Export," then choose "Import/Export." Choose "Import from another program or file" and select "Outlook Data File (.pst)". Choose the exported PST file and follow the wizard to import the emails.

Method 2: Forward Emails: Select the emails you want to move in the source account. Click on the "Forward" button. Enter the email address of the destination account in the "To" field. Click on the "Send" button. Limitations:

Both methods have limitations. Exporting and importing can be slow and cumbersome for large datasets. Forwarding individual emails works well for small batches but becomes tedious for a large number of emails. Neither method retains the original folder structure from the source account.

Alternatives: Third-party applications: Several third-party applications can help you migrate emails between different email accounts. These applications often offer more features and flexibility than the built-in options. Contact your email provider: Some email providers may offer support for migrating emails between accounts. Contact your provider's support team for more information.

Additional Notes: It's important to remember that the new Outlook app is still under development. Microsoft may add the ability to directly move or copy emails between accounts in future updates.
