Outlook sort by name, but can't jump to name

I just tried the NEW outlook.

I can sort by names A-Z, but then I have to scroll to find the person.

The old outlook, I could just type the first letter and it would jump to that name.

Is there a setting in the new outlook that allows you to jump to the letter when typed?

This is so frustrating. Such a basic feature...

I found the fix, or at least for my situation.

Right click on a column header, then view settings.

    Click on "other settings"

Under "Other options" make sure to check "Use compact layout in widths smaller than"

For me, this affected the ability to jump to a name (or subject if I sorted that column).

These "view settings" and then "other settings" is only able to be seen if you're using Old/Classic Outlook. Right-clicking column headers in the New Outlook does not give this option.

Are you sure the ones working are using the "NEW" Outlook?

After all this time, I was able to go back to my desktop version of Outlook (still had my old account there but it was no longer active since my termination) and was able to add my new outlook.com email account so it's working for me the way it used to. This it what it looks like if you're trying to do that.
