Outlook sort by name, but can't jump to name

This is a very frustrating lack of functionality, seems the new version is lowing everyone down rather than an upgrade it feels like a down grade.

The issue is two fold, one you cannot search by simply typing a letter or two, nor does it display the message you were on, it always goes to the top email - @Microsoft there are numerous posts and questions on this, now dating back 2 years - please resolve as a matter of urgency!

I'm astounded that Microsoft still haven't fixed this. The sort and select functionality was a godsend...this is a complete time waster and annoyance on a daily basis. Can it really be that difficult to put something back that previously existed??

I used it very briefly, the new version... and reading your comment it is even more shocking that they removed the active email after sorting. I use conversation mode and I cannot be functional without these two features. I mean, I guess I could, but it takes a serious toll on productivity (and of course mood).

Exactly! I'm still struggling with this when I have a folder that is 18 miles long and I'm looking for the email from "Zoltan". The infinite scroll is maddening~! No fix in sight.

Makes you wonder if the developers actually use their own product. The features being talked about here are the basic of the basic. Every single user of this tool uses these. One would think the developers would also miss these critical features like the other 1 billion users of this product do. Also makes you wonder how those developer meetings go when discussing planning for the next version. What about Bill? Guarantee he uses the sort and jump function just like every other plain jane user... and someone really thought that taking that away from him was a good idea? What was his reaction the first time her tried to sort and jump in the new version? Was it a "removing that was awesome, guys!" or was it a "hey, why can't I jump to the F's after sorting... whisky tango foxtrot is going on here?!"

Developer 1: "Hey guys, I have a great idea... let's update the mailbox sorting to remove the features of typing first letter of a name when sorting by name, and let's also remove keeping the email you are on active after you sort. I know those are super helpful features for me when I use outlook, but I think we should just go ahead and remove them anyway and mess with the productivity of our global users!"

Developer 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, etc: "Yeaaaahhh, great idea buddy, let's do that! Boy oh boy, we are so improving this next version, the masses are gonna LOVE this new version. We're changing the world, yay Microsoft!"

Seriously, I just can't wrap my head around it.
