Outlook sort by name, but can't jump to name

I just tried the NEW outlook.

I can sort by names A-Z, but then I have to scroll to find the person.

The old outlook, I could just type the first letter and it would jump to that name.

Is there a setting in the new outlook that allows you to jump to the letter when typed?

    This is a huge problem. SUCH a useful feature GONE. The new OUTLOOK is unuseable because this feature is gone.

    Oh, I see. It looks like you're on the web version of Outlook. I'm using the desktop version.

    I don't know if that functionality is available in the web version.

    i don't have that option when i right click on any of the headers. It only give me >Sort ascending, >Sort descending and >Change the view.

    None of those bring me to an option menu

    You also can get there by:

    • Clicking on "View" in the top navigation (top of ribbon).
    • On the left side, click "View Settings." You can then do the remaining steps:
    • Click on "other settings."
    • Under "Other options" make sure to check "Use compact layout in widths smaller than."
