Outlook sort by name, but can't jump to name

I just tried the NEW outlook.

I can sort by names A-Z, but then I have to scroll to find the person.

The old outlook, I could just type the first letter and it would jump to that name.

Is there a setting in the new outlook that allows you to jump to the letter when typed?

There are thousands of posts and votes for this feature in the Feedback Portal. Why is MS ignoring them?

Just started to use hte new outlook, the possibility to find all e-mails sent by one person (sorted by further criteria) is quite an important feature. I kindly request the outlook developer team to reinstate the function as it was in the "old" outlook, because it worked well, was very useful and hence did not need to be changed.

I am unable to jump to the name that I want to from my inbox but it works fine from my Sent Items, so not sure why it works in the Sent Items and NOT the Inbox

I was having the same issue in Inbox. I just came across your response & tried it in Sent. Works perfectly! Went back to Inbox just to see if it was still messed up....works now! And it worked in every other subfolder and additional inboxes I manage. Absolute weirdness.

I had no issues with this until I had to get a new computer and Windows 11 was installed. What a mess - can't truly customize display preferences, etc. but that's a whole other can of worms. Anyway, the "Try the new Outlook" button was toggled off so I wasn't even in that version.

It's been more than a year and MS still have not addressed this issue. Very annoying and frustrating and inefficient and going backward. Might as well use Gmail.
