Outlook sort by name, but can't jump to name

I just tried the NEW outlook.

I can sort by names A-Z, but then I have to scroll to find the person.

The old outlook, I could just type the first letter and it would jump to that name.

Is there a setting in the new outlook that allows you to jump to the letter when typed?

    It's been sitting in the forum unactioned with comments dating back to 12 months ago!?!

    Same. I just want to type "T" and then jump to the messages sent by folks that start with a "T" when I'm sorted by sender name.

    As described below, I toggle back and forth from new and old Outlook. Discouraging.

    disregard. whew. Just use the old outlook!

    Based on your description, I understand that you have a concern with “How do i revert to the original Outlook”. We are looking into the issue, and before we proceed, we need more detailed information about the situation you are experiencing.

    Please help us in isolating the issue by providing the following information:

    1. What version of Outlook are you using? Go to File > Office account > About Outlook. See What version of Outlook do I have? (microsoft.com)
    2. Are you referring to new outlook Preview (PRE)? If so, you can revert back to "Classic" Outlook by disabling New Outlook toggle or close outlook and open outlook by using outlook.exe instead of olk.exe. New Outlook is installed, and old outlook is still there, if the toggle switch is missing, you may go to Windows Start and search for Outlook, you will see both outlook, there is Outlook with PRE for new outlook in which you can open by olk.exe and the other outlook for the old in which you can use outlook.exe to open it.
    3. If doesn't work, follow steps in this article, How to revert to an earlier version of Office (microsoft.com) to revert to the previous version of office:

    when you say 'dropped the new version' are you suggesting that there is a way to revert to the old Outlook? If so please explain, as I need this search functionality back
