Outlook sort by name, but can't jump to name

I have this same issue. The "other settings" suggestion below is not visible for me. I only see "Change view" and "Density" options for the view settings. Changing between the view settings did not help.

Being able to sort by letter - and then type the letter to quickly jump to that letter - is a big reason why I sort by name. Scrolling down until I get to a specific letter is frustrating.

A workaround is to use the search function - but that can be very frustrating. This jump to a letter while sorted by name feature would be greatly appreciated.

The other frustrating thing is - if you have an email highlighted (for example, an email from Joe Smith) - and I sort by name, the old version stayed on Joe Smith. But the new version defaults to the top and I have to scroll down to Joe Smith's emails.

Search is nice - but it should not be the ONLY way.

Microsoft - Please make sure the same functionality as the old version with sorting works in the new version.

I used this jump-to-letter function as well. Its quite frustrating this functionality has been removed.

this is not a workaround as we could achieve the same thing by typing into the search box the sender's name.

why did microsoft remove this very helpful and simple tool?!?!?!

Yes quite frustrating that the "new" version does not have this useful functionality.
After seeing your post for possible solutions, figured out a workaround.
Right click on the sender's mail -> In "Advanced Options" select "Find email from this sender".
This is the nearest that I could make it similar to the older version.
