Hi, is there a function in the outlook to "reply" to the message with attachment included? Not asking about copy paste, or drag in or forward. Simple reply with attachment.

Many thanks

Robert

    Hello Robert,

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Based on your description I understand that you want to “reply to the message with attachment included”.

Usually we suggest that you copy and paste the attachment while reply to the message, or drag attachment or insert it.

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/all/include-attachments-when-replying-to-a-message/ccf6c3bf-446c-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5

However, as you mentioned, “Not asking about copy paste, or drag in or forward. Simple reply with attachment”. After thorough research and testing, it’s been concluded that the feature you are inquiring about replying to the message with attachment included is not feasible.

Nonetheless, If you set up attaching original mail, the attachment will appear in the attached original email. Hence, you may try this way as follow.

Open Outlook -->  Go to File-->Options-->Mail-->Scroll down to replies and forward --> replies --> Select attach original message

We apologize if we are not able to meet your requirements; however, thank you for bringing this to our attention, we will surely raise you concerns to our Product Team and hopefully this can be included in the future updates.

    Sincerely,

Good day to you as well Katerina,

thank you for the response and yes, i am aware about possibilities you described and I was searching for that particular feature to reply with att.

Anyway, thank you again and i am sure (since i was browsing other chats then this one) than more people will benefit from that feature; it would be great if you can raise the topic to Product Team.

    Nice day

    Robert

As I was reading your post and the reply, several questions came to mind.

Could you accomplish this by uploading the file to OneDrive and sending a link?

Is this file ever going to be modified?

Because attachments are stored with the original message, any modifications would have to be saved as a new file or the modifications would not save.

When you reply, are you going to send the original file or the modified file?

Is the file going to be sent to several people?

    Hi,

this is of course a great idea and we are using it inside the organization where you are able to share files. If we go outside, we usually do not share and forwarding messages including att.

Plus, sometimes i need to share simple calculation for info; and for that reason i only need to send an att.
