After researching how to get it back to how it looked, which was much more in my taste, much easier to navigate, had what I needed and nothing more, - I now see I can't get it back after it was updated. I think i'm gonna completely disgard of this email, I liked how it looked on PC, it was dark, fast, easy to find things, now it's very complicated with a lot of options and tools i have no use for, and it's bright, with small buttons everywhere. The browser version is alright, so that is what I will be using. I will uninstall outlook completely as a program from my PC, as I do not wish to have this update, and it's more trouble and much more confusing and irritating, than helping and good. It will complicate work and how easy it was before, but that's just how it is, when updates are being forced upon people. It's a typical thing of big coperations to do this, so it dosen't surprise me, that some people who think they know it all, make something new, to shove down the users throat, instead of being able to choose ourselves.

There seems to be a global initiative underway to move away from printed text, and toward pictorial representations of things. In other words, we're regressing from written language back to childish heiroglyphics. It's frustrating. Sincere condolences for your recent loss.

Yes there will be a day of “forcing”. One day the MacOS version will move to the “new” version of Outlook and the “revert to legacy” function will be gone. There are no registry hacks in MacOS to stop that. The day will also come that native Outlook app support will be stopped. Not because the client will no longer posses the capability, technically. But because Microsoft will end support. At that time you’ll move over or not have email. It’s not the first time this has happened, by the way. But the way that you claim there isn’t any “forcing”, is strange. Of course they can’t literally make you use their new ****. You just can’t use the native app version you like. They will freeze you out. So it’s webmail for you, or what? I have a solution for my personal space. I’m a Mac user. Apple mail will work. It won’t have all of the feature set, but it’s native and it’s an actual email client. In the professional space, I’m screwed and forced to use this “new” garbage.

You might check out postbox. I have used it in the past and it is well written by a company that knows email. It is based on the free Thunderbird program, but is more sophisticated, more stable, and has more features. Look here: https://www.postbox-inc.com/ Carl

I saw a statement that certainly sounded like the current Outkook version was going to be phased out. And, on my wife’s Mac every few weeks it switches to the new Outlook without her permission, at which point she can’t access her non-MS IMAP preferred email account. I have to then help her to revert back to the old version, and all her email accounts then “magically” reappear. This is certainly coercive to say the least. And, even if you can technically keep the old, now unsupported version, MS will most likely make it very hard not to use their preferred program. Do you remember the law suits when they made it very hard to use any browser other than IE? The Vista example you cite is a rare instance when they openly admitted a mistake. Hopefully that will occur in this case, but the odds appear to be against it. Carl

No change they make will force anything other than the line you are trying to spin... Relax with the conspiratorial rubbish. Historically Microsnot has tried many new things, some worked some did not. Windows Vista anyone? Microsnot only has market share of around 13% in applications-suite market. All this will do is make more of the public/business stop using their software and they will do an about change and revert this abomination as a mistake just like they did with Vista.
