The new update on OUTLOOK mail, is terrible

After researching how to get it back to how it looked, which was much more in my taste, much easier to navigate, had what I needed and nothing more, - I now see I can't get it back after it was updated.
I think i'm gonna completely disgard of this email, I liked how it looked on PC, it was dark, fast, easy to find things, now it's very complicated with a lot of options and tools i have no use for, and it's bright, with small buttons everywhere.

  • The browser version is alright, so that is what I will be using. I will uninstall outlook completely as a program from my PC, as I do not wish to have this update, and it's more trouble and much more confusing and irritating, than helping and good. It will complicate work and how easy it was before, but that's just how it is, when updates are being forced upon people.

It's a typical thing of big coperations to do this, so it dosen't surprise me, that some people who think they know it all, make something new, to shove down the users throat, instead of being able to choose ourselves.

    Hi,

I agree with most of you: the "new" Outlook is terrible!

But take care: if you intend to use Copilot, the new AI assistant, then the new Outlook is a prerequisite: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-copilot/microsoft-365-copilot-requirements#prerequisites

    Regards,

I can't believe it is still so bad. Still slow, still bad :(
Hey microsoft, I think I shouldn't have to search for a long time to figure out how to have a joint inbox for all accounts again. (Why would a company change my setting and expect me to figure out how to get it back to how it was without a simple button for it?) Please advisehow to do it.

It's now December and the Outlook app that comes with Office365 is still awful. I wish I could go back to the old Outlook, but I had to switch because my telus (gmail) accounts no longer worked with the old Outlook. Here are some of the essentials that have been ripped away:

    • I can no longer drag an email to the calendar to create an appointment.
    • I can no longer drag an email to the task list to create a task.
    • I cannot add more than 4 email accounts.
    • There is no longer a universal contact list for all accounts. (I am an individual user, not a member of an organization with and Exchange server). I have to create an individual contact list for each account and there is no easy way to automatically sync them. (And yet there appears to be a universal contact list for Outlook on my phone which I can use for all accounts. But maybe that's an Android or a Samsung thing).
    • The Task icon opens the task list in the browser rather than the Task app on my Windows 11 PC.
    • I cannot move an email to a folder in another email account like I used to do.
    • All received emails in all accounts show "To: You" rather than showing the receiving email account name.
    • If I read an email, the highlighting goes away, But then the next time I go into Outlook, all my emails are highlighted again meaning unread.
    • I put the inbox for each account in the favorites list and the combined inbox disappeared and I can't find a way to get it back.
    • I cannot specify what fields I want to see in the email list other than the limited number of settings in the Settings tool.
    • The options for calendar and task reminders are too limited. For example, I cannot set a reminder for a day ahead and then reset it to remind me every 12 hours, or 8 hours or 4 hours, ..., every 30 minutes so that I don't forget important appointments or tasks when I am immersed in what I am doing.
    • The "Help" is useless. It keeps bringing up instructions for the old Outlook or for web Outlook.
    • Support is useless. They can do nothing except to say, "It depends on the settings in web Outlook" or "the developers did not develop it that way".

I keep asking myself why I am paying for this! I use Word, Excel and Powerpoint for some volunteer work and OneDrive to backup photos and documents. It's a daunting task to move everything to other apps, but I'm thinking about it!

The Homer Edition made me laugh and I agree! I was looking for the number of messages in my Inbox this morning and I was astounded that they took that away. Whoever designed this must be a full-time programmer who does not support the app or customers who use the app.
