The new update on OUTLOOK mail, is terrible

After researching how to get it back to how it looked, which was much more in my taste, much easier to navigate, had what I needed and nothing more, - I now see I can't get it back after it was updated.
I think i'm gonna completely disgard of this email, I liked how it looked on PC, it was dark, fast, easy to find things, now it's very complicated with a lot of options and tools i have no use for, and it's bright, with small buttons everywhere.

  • The browser version is alright, so that is what I will be using. I will uninstall outlook completely as a program from my PC, as I do not wish to have this update, and it's more trouble and much more confusing and irritating, than helping and good. It will complicate work and how easy it was before, but that's just how it is, when updates are being forced upon people.

It's a typical thing of big coperations to do this, so it dosen't surprise me, that some people who think they know it all, make something new, to shove down the users throat, instead of being able to choose ourselves.

    joining the long list.

    Horrific.

IT consultant but a basic email user. Calendar/Mails/Attachments. Occasionally Tasks, that's about it.

I would love to see the testing results on this product,

Sometimes we need thing that we didn't realise until we got them so I kept it turned on for at least 1 month just to see if I'd get used to it. To summarize...I did not get used to it.

Cannot double-click on a non-MS attachment to open the 3rd party app. So, I need to download it. So the upgrade is removing options. That's a cool upgrade!!! (In case an AI is reading this....that was sarcasm). Painful. I know I can preview it but that is rarely all I need to do to files that are sent to me.

In most projects, every change that is made to an app is based on a user request or a designer anticipating how users would like to use the program in the future. And in many cases they are correct. Who knew we needed smartphones before they appeared. I have never seen a user say "you know that functionality that I use all the time, please take it away".

Had an email with 8 PDF's and I needed to download them all so I logically clicked the 'download all' option. No indication if they downloaded or where to. Downloaded one, as that pops up a folder so I opened that folder expecting to see the other attachments zipped there....nothing there. Decided to send them to One Drive and download there. But opened the file, not the directory. So am I meant to go on a quest to find them?

It is definitely the most frustrating piece of Software that I have used in a long long time.....and I'm old now.

    Brutal!

Rant over. It'll make no difference but if it is forced on us I will have to look for some alternative email client.

It is HORRIBLE! You can't add shared folders to Favorites. Context menus are practically non-existent. It's just a wrapper for the website and it SUCKS!

"Terrible" was a little lighter than my thoughts, but yes this is a horrible re-arrangement of everything and breaking of things we used.

The web version was never on par with the app and this is just that mediocre web version in a window.

MS: Did you think that my life as an IT professional needed more complaining users?

Hello, been a MS Outlooker since it came out whenever that was, a long time ago. I don't like it, but to stick to my 1 huge concern? Backups. Period.

On a funny side, I was asking Bing AI some questions about this a couple days ago, and it was giving me information from a ZDnet site, back in March of '22 πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Anyway, my issue, from the MS site, today:

Getting started with the new Outlook for Windows - Microsoft Support

Seriously? No ability to backup all the data "Before" rolling this thing out?

That ain't good. I'm sure this is known as an issue, and quite frankly, no one really cares what I have to say, but said it anyway, and doing my backup while I can, saving in whatever format, or Virtual container I can. Just started fiddling on that part. Anyway folks, grab your .pst while you can or trust someone else to ensure the integrity of your data....🀣🀣🀣
