Outlook error "Something unexpected went wrong with this url"

Hyper links wont open and I get the error message.

    We went with this solution, although slightly modified.

    We put in a GPO to have the file server's FQDN in those settings. However, instead of putting it in Trusted sites, we put it in Local Intranet.

    This works as well.

    This has seemingly fixed, or at least worked around the issue for us.

    do you use DFS file shares ? , we use DFS , so not specific server IP as such

    We didn't use the IP address no, just the FQDN name of the server.

    if you link the namespace URL \abc.local\Work Files to a word in a new message in Outlook then it will give the error message.

    but if you use the the server name instead \abc-fileserver-1\Work Files the link will open and you will get a warning popup.

    Not sure why it doesn't like the published namespace anymore
