You're right Matt. It's on file path URL's that are having an issue. I suspected that problem was came from recent updates by Windows Update - Security Updates for Microsoft Outlook (KB5002427)

Tried to uninstall the patch and hyperlinks works again. But today the patched (KB5002427) came back and the problem occurred again.

We have the same issue. FQDN does not work, if I remove .net from the link it works.

Please Microsoft test your updates before you send them out to everybody or at least provide a fix.

I found a fix which someone else posted further below in the comments

You need to add the link file://\xyz.local to the Trusted sites (xyz will need to be changed your company's domain name)

Make sure you untick the require server verification (https:) option

    I had the same problem.

I got solution for me in below way.

    1. Open Internet Option by typing in search bar in taskbar.
    2. Select Local Intranet.
    3. click on sites
    4. click on advance
    5. Add the file server link or ip which you want to get open.
    6. Once added the IP click close apply ok.
    7. Now close outlook and open and try. hope this will solve your problem.

This worked for me. Thanks so much!

    Hi,

The problem with applying this "workaround" with GPO is that if we try to do it we take Administrative control of Trusted Sites or Sites in Local Intranet. This approach is removing any custom assigned by user sites.

This is very timeconsuming workaround as administrator should go computer by computer and document current sites.

It will be better Microsoft to provide real fix.

    BR,

    Ivan Cholakov
