How to permanently prevent Outlook for Mac from switching to the new GUI?

I have the same issue. I need to use outlook for work.

I have not even explored the many deficiencies that other users noticed, because New Outlook for Mac does not meet even my most modest minimum requirements.

Forcing me to try again and again, a product that is of no use to me, is an imposition. I bought a permanent license and I want to keep the legacy version, full stop.

I have no issue with the GUI, but a "New Outlook for Mac" that DOES NOT SUPPORT apple icloud mail has got to me the most mindless "innovation" any technical or strategic mind can conceive. It is an unfinished, useless product.

(Do you seriously think you can convince icloud users to use New Outlook for their personal needs? By offering an "experience" that is incompatible with icloud email, calendar and contacts????).

This is beyond human - or artificial intelligence - comprehension.

Please find a way to kill New Outlook permanently, until you support icloud mail, contacts, calendar.

I agree completely. I tried the New Outlook for Mac. Found it lacking some very key features. Switched back to legacy and once agin it is forcing me to try the New Mac. I DON'T WANT TO SWITCH. I don't like that it is forcing me to change to something that doesn't work It takes time to switch and then time to switch back.

They need to come up with a way to remove the force change.

It simply states that it will start in the new version at a restart of the app. There is no choice. There is no way to prevent this from happening.

I did not and will not toggle the switch to start the New Outlook for Mac, for all the reasons I gave before. It is a tedious and unnecessary procedure to go through. I simply want to have a preference setting that says NO to this invasive way of pushing something I do not want, until it offers at least the same functionality and is at least as stable as what's offered in today's (legacy) version.

Business users and power users are concerned about stability and compatibility. For them, this is a serious matter, as they have to be able to rely on their productivity tools. The way Microsoft is pushing this, is beyond reasonable and very, very frustrating.

And what marketing superbrain aggressively pushes software to a Mac community that IS INCOMPATIBLE with caldav and contact formats and also cannot deal with apple mail and many other mail providers? That is simply beyond comprehension! LET US DEMONSTRATE OUR INCOMPETENCE to this market week after week, while annoying every customer we insist on molesting premium customres as frequently as we can?

Well, for Apple users there is the possibility to get rid of outlook altogether and use the native apple mail, contacts and calendar apps. They work with microsoft as an email provider, and everyone else including google without the annoying reauthentication.

If microsoft try really hard, apple users will soon be using numbers, keynote and pages instead of office.

For me/us, using Outlook is a deliberate choice, that allows our team to work with all functionality across platforms. Apple Mail and most other mail apps simply do not provide the tools and options the current/legacy Outlook has. The New Outlook for Mac seems to be on a direction of being as useless or limited as many of the non-business mail apps that we have tested as possible alternatives.

We are generally very happy with Microsoft Office, and we heavily rely on it across Windows, macOS, and iOS. The integration of mail, calendar, tasks and contacts in one interface, with the possibility to use various mail servers and protocols, while having online and offline access (local folders!) to data stores is what makes Outlook a business productivity tool. The dumbing down and oversimplification of the interface are not helping, at all.

Outlook is supposed to be the main communication hub that connects to various resources, incl. on-premises and online Exchange instances, Teams (Groups), shared calendars, local folders (with subfolders!), app add-ins (eg. Hubspot/Nimble/Slack), corporate as well as private mail accounts (Google, Apple, IMAP, etc.).

The current/updated version still doesn't offer all of this, and this is even known and listed as open issues. Pushing the New Outlook for Mac only emphasizes on it not being ready. This is my main frustration: we do not want to abandon Outlook, we simply ask to prevent the unfinished product from being shoved down our throats as long as it isn't ready.

Apple doesn't have an integrated alternative. And doesn't offer an office suite for Windows users.
