How to permanently prevent Outlook for Mac from switching to the new GUI?

Outlook for Mac is periodically insisting on changing to the new Outlook for Mac experience. I do not want this. Period.

I have tried the New Outlook and reverted back to the current and much-preferred version, since the New Outlook does not suit my needs. Moreover, after an automatic restart into the New Outlook and having to revert, it is not returning to the state it was in. I do not want to use the New Outlook and I certainly don't want to fix all issues after reverting.

How can I permanently prevent Outlook for Mac from forcing me to use (and revert from) the New Outlook?

Can I set a preference so that it will not ambush me again in the future?

    Yes, I too would like to make it so that I never get notifications about New Outlook for Mac again.

    I have my current Outlook set to my specifications, and it is wonderful. The IMAP works perfectly, as do my files, which I have in a certain order. I'm running an entire charitable organization on my own - no other departments or staff, so my email *is* all of my departments.

    I've tried the New Outlook many times, and I just don't want to use it. Period. I don't want to be reminded of it, and I certainly do not want it automatically putting me through this every few weeks!

    My reasoning is below:

    1. It doesn't recognize my password, and IMAP just doesn't work properly. When I revert back to the classic Outlook, it all works just fine.
    2. Mixes up my folders, so they are no longer in the order - some have even disappeared and they have vital info in there! I have these folders set up the way I do for a reason.
    3. I cannot add new folders under other folders, the way I can now.
    4. It is absolutely non-productive with the new format because I have to spend so much time trying to reorganize things, just to have them change next time I log in.

    I don't know if Windows users have these problems, but I can see that this is definitely an issue for Mac Users, so what can be done about this?

    Regular security and performance updates are welcome, but please give me the option to never have to switch to New Outlook again.

    The option to never switch was posted in August on page three of this thread. I have not seen it in a couple of months on multiple systems after following the instructions.

    Quit Outlook, open Terminal. Copy the following line, paste it into the Terminal window, and press enter.

    defaults write com.microsoft.Outlook EnableNewOutlook -int 0

    You'll be taken back to the standard prompt, but once you launch Outlook again, you should no longer see the 'New Outlook button and won't be prompted to switch.

    This week, I had to (again!) reset this nonsense push towards what is an inferior product, on two systems.

    Some users don't really have a choice of switching to another platform and are otherwise happily using Outlook for Mac. But NOT the "new" version. Our environment has two newly added macOS systems running Outlook for Mac. It has become a support resource drain, with users complaining about the automatic switch and loss of data and functionality.

    Upon switching back to the trusted and normal functioning version, mail flows in, items are again visible, and all functionality that people rely on is back as it was before. It's not just a burden to individual users, it's also a major drag for those who are called upon because they are technically more literate and feel comfortable with using Terminal to repair things.

    Microsoft needs to understand that this practice of forcing people into using an inferior product is highly disruptive. They should allow users to set a preference to switch off the New Outlook experience indefinitely.

    The current, trusted, "legacy" Outlook must not be dumbed down!

    Business users rely on its functionality!

    We expect stability and reliability!

    Stop this nonsense product development!

    Good morning I am in the same boat here. Outlook is forcing me to change to the new format which I do not like at all and does not suit my business. I want to keep the old format as it is far more suited to me. How can I keep this format until they actually come up with another option that actually will suit our business and the way we run. The old system is far better. Very disappointing in the new format.

    I have yet to see a response from a representative here that wasn't a deflection to "we need more information - what browser, what update version, what time of day, what direction was the wind blowing," so we can duplicate the isse. It's a simple question - WHY ARE YOU CHANGING OUR SETTINGS? Give us an answer for once. I have this issue too and don't appreciate microsoft "helping me" by changing all my outlook settings, including starting my day with all email in a different default font and italics. ****. I'm trying to run a business here, guys. SO ANNOYING!
